Ember was found on the side of the road unable to walk and was taken in to the shelter by animal control. Initial assessments discovered a broken and dislocated shoulder with multiple spinal fractures. Based on her initial assessment by veterinary staff and a secondary consult, her injuries suggest she was thrown from a moving vehicle.

She then acquired a respiratory infection and was scheduled to be euthanized within days of intake.

Ember's injuries were all caused by humans so we couldn't let her story end that way. She became a member of the Misfit Ranch family on the day she was to be euthanized and we're so thankful to have been able to save this sweet girl.

Ember's medical intake revealed her to be underweight, malnourished with a respiratory infection and physical condition indicated malnutrition as a young pup. Our vet confirmed the shoulder break, shoulder dislocation and spinal fractures. We have since put weight on her with a feeding routine created specifically for her by our nutritionist and resolved her respiratory infection. She has already undergone a procedure to put her should back in place and is currently healing.

She is vaccinated and microchipped but her spay is on hold until medically cleared from her injuries. You can follow her journey through her highlight on Instagram.

Ember's training needs will be assessed after she has fully recovered from her injuries and spay.

Despite her rough start in life, Ember is extremely affectionate and has shown excitement and the want to be with and love on people. She has also shown to be a resilient girl, learning to walk on three legs rather quickly when her shoulder was immobilized. Her tail is constantly wagging and when she's not napping, she loves to cuddle, give kisses and play!

We love this happy girl and we are sure you will too!
