Luna is a 4 year old Belgian Malinois whose owner has orders overseas through March 2026, without local friends and family to help care for her dogs. She is a temporary resident of Misfit Ranch until her owner returns home.

Luna is being provided full vaccinations, microchipping and will be spayed after her next heat cycle.

One of the things we are most passionate about is preventing dogs from ending up in the shelter system in the first place. Sometimes, all it takes is a little community support to keep a dog with its family long term.

Single members of our military that are stationed here in Las Vegas, sometimes find themselves with orders that take them away from home. Some of these military members are here in Las Vegas with their dogs, without local friends and family to help care for them while they're away.

When we first started rescuing dogs we learned that some military members in this situation were left no choice but to surrender their dogs, especially if their dogs were high-drive and or special needs because finding long-term care was nearly impossible. Heartbroken, they could only hope to find their dogs somewhere available for adoption when they return home.

We have been fostering dogs for single military members since discovering this and reuniting them when they return home. We decided it was important to add them to our website so the community can see the work we do and the types of dogs we care for long-term. We encourage any community member with the ability to help prevent unnecessary surrender by opening their home if they are able. The reunions make it all worth it!

With our current limited space, we are only able to foster two dogs at a time (exception for more is if all dogs are from the same family) for single military members with temporary orders taking them away from home. Once our expansion is complete, we will be able to assist more military members with this service to keep their dogs with their owners and out of the shelter system.
